OK, not literally, but on Tuesday 5th May @ 7.30pm, the Waltham Chase History Group is very pleased to welcome to Waltham Chase Methodist Church (SO32 2LD), Edward Probert, Canon-Chancellor and Sub Dean at Salisbury who will be talking on the subject:

‘The Magna Carta and Salisbury: the power of words’

2015 marks the 800th anniversary of one of the world’s most significant documents, which happens also to be in many respects obscure, odd, misunderstood and misrepresented. Salisbury Cathedral’s exceptional 1215 copy has ensured a special focus on interpreting the document to contemporary society.

As Chancellor of Salisbury Cathedral  Edward Probert is one of its five resident clergy, and is specifically responsible for the Salisbury Magna Carta, and has been intimately involved in every stage of the cathedral’s work towards celebrating its 800th anniversary this year.
