We began this months meeting with our speaker Mr David Bryant; whose talk was “Making people laugh and cry with verse”. He recited poems and verses covering all sorts of topics and members were laughing their socks off. Everyone agreed it was the best of nights and one member said she wasn’t feeling too well when she arrived but felt perfectly alright after the talk, remarking that a good laugh can be better than pills and potions!
We have many things to look forward to this coming year among which is our jumble sale, the date of which has been changed from 21st March to April 18th owing to unforeseen circumstances. We have social skittles in February and the Group Spring Meeting at Shedfield with Guest Speak Andrew Negus, followed by lunch. The round one of the Group Quiz at Botley , and on June 4th we can spend the day at the Study Centre watching the National AGM streamed live from the Albert Hall. This is the centenary of the WI and we should be having some really good Speakers.
Do not forget our Jumble Sale on April 18th, and if you have any donations bring them to the hall before noon on the day. Anything that is left over at the end is collected by the British Heart foundation for their fundraising.
If you would like to join us on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, just drop in at the hall at 7.15pm for a warm welcome.
