Keep Waltham Chase Clean!

Celebrating 3 years of keeping our village litter free

Founded by Gary Pothecary, who has lived in Waltham Chase for 15 years and Bishops Waltham before that, our vision is to keep Waltham Chase tranquil and litter free.

What sort of people are we?

Local residents who like most lead very busy lives with work and family commitments. Most people I speak to hate to see litter and feel it is the job of the authority and local councils to pick it up!!! – We started up the Waltham Chase litter group to combat the litter and every three months about 30 local residents go out for about an hour to fill a bag or two. (All litter pickers, high viz, bags etc are  supplied) Some of our helpers pop out whilst walking the dog, going to shop or taking kids to park to keep our village litter free.

 Who are the offenders

The worst type of rubbish is that thrown from car windows, energy drinks, beer bottles left in verges, junk food packaging.

We have received massive support from Winchester council and particularly neighbourhood warden Andrew Murphy who has taken steps re fly tipping and indeed removed any sight of fly tipping within 24 hours.

We always need volunteers – every little helps!

Next pick – weekend of 16/17 November
