W.I. May report

Our AGM meeting saw the reappointment of Dianne Portman as President. We are all deeply grateful to her for her consistent hard work and time dedicated to making WI special here in Waltham Chase. Jenny Carter reported on the Hampshire Spring Meeting for which the guest speaker was Clarissa Dickson Wright, the celebrity TV chef who initially trained as a barrister and admits to a dark period of her life when she would consume two bottles of gin a day. Happily she is now a reformed alcoholic with the prospect of Hollywood making a film about her life – we await!

Nita organised a fifty strong party to visit Blenheim Palace on that sunny bank holiday weekend. The delights of organ playing and jousting were matched by a demonstration of birds of prey, even if one of them did fly off chasing a pigeon (back to the board on that one!)

Diary dates:

17th June     Group quiz at the Study Centre Shedfield

10th July     Shedfield WI’s Strawberry Tea.

5th Aug          Group Garden Party at Hambledon

11th Sept     Group skittles at WCVH

7th Oct     Group meeting Step dancing at Durley

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 11th June at 7.30pm in Waltham Chase Village Hall. Of course please join us – it will be good to have you along.
