The 26th Planning meeting my report

I attended the Planning meeting at Winchester Guildhall on the 26th for the three applications concerning Church House Farm at Clewers Hill.

The objections didn’t succeed and the change of use is ‘Permitted’ so we have B2 industry here in Waltham Chase.

It is very heartening that we have such capable people supporting our village.              Lorrie Smith, Pat Staples, David Bull, Jess Bond (Chair Shedfield Parish Council), Roger Huxstep (Councillor) led the fight for our objections to the change from “*B1 (Light Industrial) to B2 (General Industrial)”.

I also found that the Planning Committee have such good Councillors who used clear, common sense thinking; such as Councillors T. Evans, M. Read and A. Clear but also others with such a poor grasp of the world.  With comments such as – ‘ The countryside isn’t a park’, ‘’Farming makes noise and gets bigger’.

I now know that these meetings aren’t so intimidating as I thought and would encourage others to show their support and attend.

Once again a big thanks to Lorrie and Pat for their tremendous efforts on our behalf!

*Notes: for those who don’t know what B1 and B2 mean:

  • B1 Business – Offices (other than those that fall within A2), research and development of products and processes, light industry appropriate in a residential area.
  • B2 General industrial – Use for industrial process other than one falling within class B1 (excluding incineration purposes, chemical treatment or landfill or hazardous waste).
